Reports the York Daily Record:
“Some York County commissioners believe that up to $1 million can be generated by outsourcing the county nursing home’s rehabilitative treatment services.
That idea is one option the commissioners are pursuing for next year to cut down the amount they provide for the Springettsbury Township facility. The search for contractors could start by the end of the year or early January.
Additional dollars could be netted by contracting out the home’s dietary, housekeeping and laundry services. But efforts to outsource those services have yet to be seriously considered, commissioners said.
The proposal has been factored into the 2009 preliminary budget and helped cut down a minimum $10 million spending deficit.”
