Writes the York Dispatch:
No phrase needs to be put to bed more than “win-win situation,” but it pretty much sums up a new program offered through York County that helps residents cover the cost of prescription drugs — not only for themselves but for their pets.
The York County Commissioners last week agreed to participate in the Coast2Coast Rx discount pharmacy card program offered by Florida-based Financial Marketing Concepts. It is free, requires no registration and is open to anyone regardless of income level.
The program covers more than 60,000 drugs, and is offered through most major — and some smaller — pharmacies. Pet owners get some help, too. People can get a discount on veterinary prescriptions filled at participating pharmacies.
Financial Marketing Concepts gives the county 50 cents for each prescription filled, he said. The money comes from a dispensing charge paid by the consumer when a prescription is filled.
“It’s a win-win situation for the county and for the residents,” said Edward Rahn, company president.
HealthPoint PA readers: Does your area have a program like this? What do you think of these prescription discount programs?

This company I found, RXCut gives a revenue stream of $.60 perprescription filled. They also will provide a comparison of what their discounts are, as compared to similar discount prescription card providers. The discount precription cards are an excellent idea, though, regardless of who you get them from. Too many people have no prescription coverage, or people with Medicare may have the “doughnut hole” in the Part D coverage. russellburt01@aol.com
