After a budget deal was reached early Tuesday morning, some worry that if it does not pass this week, the deal may not hold up.

The Associated Press stated that “each year, these days represent the last chance for scores of lobbyists and legislators to plug their spurned or forgotten causes in the state’s massive budget.”

One of the issues still on the table that is causing a roadblock is MCare, the state subsidy that helps doctors pay for supplemental malpractice insurance coverage. The Senate has attempted to tie this issue with the re-authorization of PHC4, but the Governor has vowed not to sign the bill if MCare is included. Rendell has tied MCARE to his desire to have expanded insurance coverage to the uninsured.

Although there is a deal, no information has been distributed about where the money is going, so all eyes are on the state capitol and time is ticking away.
