The Scranton Times-Tribune reports:

New systems that can transmit X-rays, ultrasound images and EKGs to doctors’ offices outside the building are among several pieces of cutting-edge technology that Wayne Memorial Hospital will implement thanks to a six-figure grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The hospital received $351,748 through the USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine program. Altogether, the USDA’s program awarded about $866,397 to rural hospitals throughout the state this year.

It is the third such grant Wayne Memorial has received in recent years, all of which were used for purchasing and upgrading equipment that helps the hospital offer quality, efficient care to patients, according to Jack Dennis, the hospital’s grants and development manager.
