Says a press release issued by Rep. Julie Harhart (R-Lehigh):
A pair of resolutions, both championing women’s health issues and authored by state Rep. Julie Harhart (R-Lehigh/Northampton), passed unanimously in the state House Tuesday. House Resolution 4 designates Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, as “Wear Red Day for Women” in Pennsylvania, while House Resolution 5 recognizes January, 2009, as “Cervical Cancer Awareness Month” in the state.

According to the latest statistics, heart disease annually kills more Americans than cancer.

“Great strides have been made in the prevention of cervical cancer with the discovery of vaccines,” Harhart commented. “In spite of that, more than 11,000 new cases of cervical cancer were reported last year, as were more than 3,800 deaths from the disease.”
