Tri-County Metal Health/Mental Retardation hopes to serve 39 new adult MR clients this year from its “emergency need” waiting list, reports the Pocono Record.
The agency serves 1,200 people on the MR side, at an annual cost of $25 million. Tasks vary from around the clock nursing care to helping clients get to work. There are nearly 300 people currently on the waiting list to get into the program.
The addition of the 39 new clients from the waiting list would require an additional $2.6 million. This funding, which must be approved by the three counties’ comissiononers boards, would include funds for administrative support to comply with state requirements.
