The Pennsylvania Bureau of Unemployment Compensation decided late Friday, June 11th that Temple nurses would receive benefits during what the Bureau is labeling a “lockout” rather than a strike. Temple will foot the bill because it is self-insured for unemployment compensation, as many large organizations and companies are.

Temple will have to pay an estimated $1.5 million in unemployment compensation to eight or nine hundred employees of the total fifteen hundred employees, union officials said.
