The Times-Tribune reports, “an investment of about $10 million and eight months of work have created a new center in Scranton to streamline the treatment process for local cancer patients. The Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care is modeled on big-city cancer treatment centers like Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Fox Chase by offering a number of services, including surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology, in one building.

‘We don’t have anything like this here,’ [Delta Medix CEO Margo] Opsasnick said. ‘We want to make this a model for cancer treatment centers.’

The center will use a team approach by having all of the doctors working in one building, meaning that they can confer and come up with a plan for treatment. Once a month, staff meet to discuss treatment options for cancer patients and collaborate on finding the best ways to treat them.”
