Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks) is sponsoring a bill that would require that patients receive the results of all of their medical tests. Reports the Bucks County Courier Times:
The “Patient Test Result Information Act,” which has at least 50 sponsors, would make it mandatory for the testing agency to send a summary of test results to the patient within 10 days of sending them to the physician.
“We’re not talking about pages and pages. It’s the summary,” Quinn said.
Quinn said her legislation, which she plans to re-introduce next year since it didn’t pass this session, is not something “punitive for doctors. It’s a safety net, an extra set of eyes for the person who cares most — the patient.”
Visit the Courier Times for more details about the proposed legislation, and to read the story of a man who in part inspired Quinn to sponsor the legislation.
