Rendell visited Pottsville on Sunday to pitch his new health plan, Pennsylvania Access to Basic Care, which he hopes will provide basic, affordable insurance for 350 thousand Pennsylvanians. The proposed program would be funded in part by increasing taxes on cigarettes and cigars, reports the Pottsville Republican Herald

“It only has emergency dental. It doesn’t have regular dental checkups. But it does have some preventative care. It has unlimited hospital and doctor visits. It has generic prescription drug coverage. It has mental health coverage. It’s a pretty good, sound, basic plan,” Rendell said.
