PA Budget Secretary Zogby presented his mid-year budget update yesterday, and it’s not so pretty: His estimates show a projected $500M (that’s MILLION) budget shortfall – and that’s the optimistic scenario.

His boss, Gov. Corbett, wants to balance the budget by cutting spending, without raising taxes along the way. Much of the blame for the shortfall is placed on growing health care, pension and debt costs – most of which are mandated, and therefore, not eligible for cuts.
