As part of a $10 million construction project, Peter Becker Community, a retirement home in Harleysville PA, will add a dementia center to its facilities. Contractors expect the construction to last approximately 18 months. The Community currently has a program for its patrons with dementia, called  the Tender Hearts program; however, this only occurs during the day, and does not provide full-time care for the affected members. The center will help those with dementia complete necessary daily tasks like bathing, dressing, eating, etc. however it will not stifle the residents as they will still maintain a level of independence.

The addition of the center will take the center “into the next era” said Chairman-elect John Frankenfield.
