Reports the Times-Tribune:
A new local chapter of a grass-roots health care reform group outlined its goals Monday for lawmakers to immediately begin fulfilling campaign promises to give all Americans quality health insurance.
Local labor leaders and area politicians’ representatives joined the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre branch of “Health Care for America NOW!” at the Hilton Hotel & Conference Center in Scranton.
HCAN wants laws passed to require insurers to offer affordable plans to everyone regardless of their health and wealth.
The advocacy group also wants the state — or more likely the federal government — to offer health plans for everyone. But people could keep their current health insurance if they don’t want a government plan.
