PA may be the home of the Gosselin sextuplets, but they’re definitely not the only multiples in PA.  Twin births in the state jumped dramatically: In the past 30 years, the rate of twin births has doubled, reports the Allentown Morning Call.

The growth in twinning, according to Joyce Martin, one of the center’s researchers who wrote the report, is related to social and technological changes. Women are having children later in life, and it’s believed that hormonal changes as women age increase the possibility of multiple births, she said.

The growth of  fertility treatments accounts for most of the increase.
