The Geisinger Health System has announced impressive growth in their work force and community contributions over the past several years.  The Daily Item reports Geisinger’s employee salary, education, and training now total more than $1 billion.

The article also discuses the health system’s community contributions  and medical care for individuals without insurance coverage.  Contributions in these areas totaled more than $460 million.  Figures for 2011 have not yet been released, but they are expected to be larger than the previous year.
