Summary: This legislation recognizes February 6, 2009 as “Wear Red Day for women” in Pennsylvania to encourage all citizens to wear red and raise women’s awareness of cardiovascular disease. Each year, cardiovascular diseases claim the lives of more than 460,000 females in the United States. Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s national call to increase awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death for women, and to inspire women to take charge of their heart health.
