The Herald Standard editorialized today, saying that it’s completely wrong for the Republican Leaders and Gov. Rendell to be “playing chicken” to make a budget deal, while using a state worker furlough as a playing chip in negotiations. The paper thinks penalties for not passing the budget in time should fall on the people who cannot get their job done on time: The governor, his cabinet, and the Legislature. All three should go without pay until the budget is finalized.
