Endo Pharmaceuticals of Chadds Ford, PA, announced Monday that they would be purchasing the generic drug company Qualitest Pharmaceuticals.  Qualitest is based in Huntsville, AL, and is the sixth largest generic drug company in the United States.

Endo’s president and CEO, David Holveck, said that “the acquisition of Qualitest accelerates our stated strategy of building a diversified health-care company, better able to respond to the changing economics that drive the U.S. health-care environment.”

The transaction is projected to close in the fourth quarter or early next year.
