Says a press release issued by Reps. Kathy Watson and Scott Boyd:

Reps. Kathy Watson (R-Bucks/144th) and Scott Boyd (R-Lancaster/43rd), co-chairs of the House Republican Policy Committee’s Health Care Task Force, today released a statement reflecting their disappointment in the lack of movement on legislation to advance health care issues in the state House:

“Today was a prime opportunity to advance the health care debate in Pennsylvania. Members of our task force offered responsible, meaningful amendments to legislation that would address the growing number of uninsured people in our state but these efforts were thwarted by the House Democrats who said the issue was ‘too complicated’ to discuss today,” said Watson.

Boyd agreed. “With more people losing their health care coverage due to our struggling economy, time is of the essence. We have real solutions that will offer affordable health care coverage to residents without breaking the bank and placing additional burdens on our businesses and existing employers.”

The amendments included proposals by Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) to offer grants to health care facilities to upgrade their equipment and reduce medical errors; Rep. Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) to update the state’s AdultBasic program to get individuals off the program’s waiting list; and Rep. Tom Killion (R-Delaware/Chester) to offer an affordable, basic policy for state residents.
