Greg Anderson, founder and CEO of Hershey-based Cancer Recovery Foundation International, has a proposal for a plan that he says would lead directly to a new and better healthcare system for America.

Says Anderson in his op-ed published today in the Patriot-News:

There is a reform model that has proven successful. Believe it or not, that model already exists right here in the United States: the Veterans Health Administration. In less than a decade, this system went from abysmal to outstanding, surpassing America’s private system in virtually every area of measurement.

The key strategic decision that drove the VHA’s superior results was to start the reform process with improving the quality of care.

The three key initiatives Anderson says the VHA took were computerizing medical records, focusing on prevention, and restoring purchase power of medications.
