From the Patriot News:

State workers once again need to fear for their jobs.

With state government facing a $1.1 billion shortfall, Gov. Ed Rendell indicated Monday that it’s not a matter of if there will be furloughs and layoffs, but rather how many.

“We took $2 billion out of state programs the last two years and there are some areas to be cut, but not much,” Rendell said at a Capitol news conference. “That means further cuts and reductions in spending will have to come from layoffs and furloughs, and that is not a pleasant forecast for me to make.”
