A bipartisan group of state legislators will come together today in Montgomery County to urge the state Senate to pass a healthcare bill (Pennsylvania Access to Basic Care) that passed the House in March, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer:

“The lawmakers will gather at 11 a.m. today on the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse, Swede Street, Norristown.

Among them: Democratic County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel; Montgomery County Democratic state Reps. Daylin Leach and Rick Taylor; Republican state Rep. Jay Moyer; and staff from the offices of Democratic Reps. Mike Gerber and Josh Shapiro. Also invited are Republican Reps. Mike Vereb, Tom Murt, and George Kenney, and Democratic Rep. Lawrence Curry.”

PA ABC would expand state-subsidized health coverage to about 270,000 uninsured Pennsylvanians who meet certain income guidelines.  Republican state senators are currently promoting their own healthcare plan; HealthNET PA.
