The City of Allentown has received a $120,000 U.S. Conference of Mayors and the American Beverage Association grant to continue its fruit-and-vegetable cart that delivers fresh produce to playgrounds in the city.

The Allentown Morning Call writes that “Through grant funds and partnerships with local grocery stores, the city illustrated and stocked a pickup truck with fruits and vegetables for visits to city playgrounds over the summer, handing out foods like snap peas, peaches and watermelon.”

Allentown was one of 6 cities nationwide, and the only city in Pennsylvania, to receive a grant from the group.
