Welcome to HealthPointPA!
Our mission is to create an online community for coordinated awareness, information, research and advocacy for healthcare issues and policies in Pennsylvania. We encourage all interested parties, including patient health groups, community networks and professional healthcare organizations to engage in activities such as information sharing and advocacy.
It often seems like there’s not enough time in the day, or budget resources available, to finish everything that needs to be done. We created HealthPointPA to be a source for Pennsylvania healthcare policies and issues. Our goal is to gather the information you need in one central location at no cost to you. We welcome any input or suggestions you might have to make HealthPointPA a better place. Think we’re missing topics, or missing the point? Email us via the Contact Us form.
Also, please feel free to comment on any of our posts or news stories if you find it of interest, would like to add an opinion, or additional information.
About the Site
Hot Topics are the latest news stories and information on the biggest health care issues concerning Pennsylvanians right now. This section will also display original HealthPointPA content, such as legislative interviews or breaking news from the Capitol.
News contains media stories and original content based on what’s going on in the Capitol and around the state. Resources is a comprehensive list of useful links from the Governor’s Administration, the Legislature and State Government, as well as Healthspeak, a dictionary of acronymns from the healthcare world.
The State Government page has information about the budget process and how a bill moves through the House and Senate. The tabs below are where you’ll find bill tracking and summaries, information on the regulatory process, and state agency actions that impact Pennsyvlania healthcare. In the legislation section you can make use of the tabs at the bottom of the posts to sort bills according to whether they promote access or prevention. The weekly wrap-up includes what healthcare-related bills have moved that week, and information about upcoming committee meetings in the House and Senate.
The “Post a Comment” area under each article or informational post is a way for you to share your thoughts or initiatives related to the subject matter. Simply add your name, email address (will not be printed) and comments below the article and they will be posted immediately.
